Tim Wood, Managing Director

Tim Wood brings over 25 years of experience in law enforcement, corporate security, and risk consulting. His career with Victoria Police included high-pressure roles including the elite Special Operations Group, as well as training and emergency management at the Victoria Police Academy and statewide operational centres.

In the corporate sector, Tim held senior security roles at Toll Group before founding Vanguard Risk in 2019, a consultancy specialising in security risk management, emergency planning, and protective security for crowded places.

Tim holds an MBA, is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and is completing a Master of Terrorism and Security Studies.

As Vanguard Risk’s lead facilitator, Tim is known for his engaging, down-to-earth presentation style. He brings training to life by tailoring content to participants’ roles and sharing real stories from his policing career, making sessions both relevant and memorable. He also shares the powerful story of a serious accident that changed the course of his life - a moment many participants find deeply moving and inspiring.
